Ryan Hiller
Ryan's Musical History

"Here's a local San Diego artist that you should keep your eyes on... What's most amazing is that he wrote, composed, and arranged all of the songs on his CD. Not to mention he even recorded some of his guitar tracks in his room!"- Rowley and Preston 91X

Ryan Hiller has recently released his new self-titled EP, “The P.U.R.E. Project.” He composed and arranged all of the material for the project, and performs all of the guitar and vocals on the CD. Some of the musicians on the album include Kevin Cooper on bass from the late Ike Turner band. Ryan’s goal was to fuse together the musical styles of Soul, Funk, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, and a little bit of Latin on top of the underlying Rock foundation to tie it all together.

Ryan Hiller has known that music was going to be the focus of his life ever since he was born. He began singing at the early age of 5 years old, and took up the guitar a year later. He began playing professionally at the early age of fourteen in Park City, Utah. By the time he was out of high school, Ryan had been playing in over five working bands, one of which, "Real Eyes," had opened up for the Black Eyed Peas and John Scofield.

Ryan decided at age 18 to move to New Orleans, because he wanted to take his playing to the next level. He received a degree in jazz performance from the University of New Orleans five years later. While working on his degree he worked with may of the local artists, including Amy Trail www.amytrail.com, The Beacon Light Gospel Choir, The Zion Trinity Gospel Choir, The University of New Orleans Gospel Choir, and After 8 www.after8music.com.

Ryan played at all of the local venues, including House Of Blues, Tipitinas, The Maple Leaf, The Carrolton Station, The Dock, etc... He later went on a national tour with Theresa Andersson www.theresaandersson.com, and decided that he one day wanted to live in Southern California. After Hurricane Katrina, Ryan decided that would be a good time to try something new.

Ryan has since established himself in San Diego, CA as a full time musician. He currently plays all over the city, and can be heard most nights of the week. Tuesdays at the Woodfin Hotel, Wednesdays at the Prospect Bar and Lounge, and every other Thursday at Beaumonts in La Jolla are some of his regular gigs. He recently played at the Rock and Roll marathon in front of over 30 thousand people, and at the main stage in Deer Valley Park City for one of their concert series.
