Ryan Hiller
Ryan's Musical History

"Here's a local San Diego artist that you should keep your eyes on... What's most amazing is that he wrote, composed, and arranged all of the songs on his CD. Not to mention he even recorded some of his guitar tracks in his room!"- Rowley and Preston 91X

Ryan Hiller has lived and breathed music from a very young age. He began singing at the early age of five years old, and quickly took up the guitar a year later. He began playing professionally at the age of fourteen in Park City, UT, and by the time he was out of high school Ryan had played in five working bands, one of which, "Real Eyes," had opened up for the Black Eyed Peas and John Scofield.

Passionate about honing his skills, Ryan moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue a degree in in jazz performance from the University of New Orleans. Rich in jazz and blues history, New Orleans provided a springboard for Ryan’s career and allowed him to work with a bevy of talented artists, including After 8, Amy Trail, Big Sam's Funky Nation, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Beacon Light Gospel Choir, The Zion Trinity Gospel Choir, and The University of New Orleans Gospel Choir. Ryan was also fortunate to play at many Big Easy venues such as the House Of Blues, Tipitinas, The Maple Leaf, The Carrolton Station and The Dock.

In 2004 and 2005, Ryan found himself surrounded by some of the greatest talent in the world, inlcuding Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, Lenny Kravitz and Santana, (to name a few) when he was asked to play at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on the Gospel Stage. He also played with Velvet Revolver, The Beastie Boys, Green Day and Kid Rock at The Voodoo Fest in 2005.

After receiving his degree, he went on a national tour with acclaimed artist Theresa Anderson, and while traveling through Southern California he realized that sun, sand and a laid back lifestyle was calling his name. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina, Ryan decided to take that leap and landed in San Diego, CA. He currently plays all over America’s Finest City, and can be heard most nights of the week at venues including Anthology, The Belly Up, The Wave House, Winstons, The 710 Beach Club and more. Ryan has also been performing annually on the main stage at the Deer Valley summer concert series, and at the Rock and Roll marathon in front of over 40,000 people.
